Hi Volunteers!

Thank you for coming to Eventing Volunteers.com to volunteer for the 2019 Tryon Riding & Hunt Club Horse Trials on October 19-20, 2019!  This is our 44th annual event.

We could not run this event without volunteers so each of you is crucial to the its success!  We are grateful for each and every hour you can give both to our Club and for the benefit of the many competitors coming from over a dozen states around the country to participate. We will also be running our popular College Team Challenge again.

This year, we are using the USEA’s Volunteer Incentive Program to enlist volunteers and track the number of hours each of you work for the USEA’s many events during the year. Every hour you volunteer is counted and adds up on a central Leader Board.  The Leading Volunteers at the end of the year are eligible for prizes from National and each Area.  We are in Area III.  For example, if you volunteered for the Fork at TIEC in April, your hours here will add to those.  You will receive emails from the system during the event to record the hours you work.

It should be fairly straightforward to sign up for positions this year.  Here are a few comments of a general nature:

Jump Judges:  We need a lot of jump judges!  It's not hard and its a great place to get familiar with eventing and cross country.  We WILL train you!!  And you will be fully capable.  However, we only want to do one training session in the morning.  It is very difficult logistically to do a second one at midday.  Therefore, we encourage all of our Jump Judges to sign up for All Day if you possibly can.   It can be a very pleasant way to spend the better part of a day, and we will serve you lunch and all the drinks and snacks you can handle!  IF you just can’t help all day, however, we'd still love to have you for the front part of the day.  Please plan on coming for the training and staying as long as you can,at least through the morning.  Mark your signup in the comments for when you desire to leave.  We can manage easily a few people leaving early as we always reduce the number of jumps as we shift to the lower level divisions.

Shifts—For some positions, we set up morning and afternoon shifts.  If you can stay all day in these jobs, please sign up for both shifts.  Many of the roles this year are set up as all day positions and we especially welcome you to do that as it makes our lives a lot easier!

Lunches—If you prefer a Vegetarian lunch, please indicate that in the comments.

You will receive many more detailed instructions as we get closer to the event.

If you have any questions about sign-ups, please do not hesitate to contact me by phone, text, or email.  We will try to accommodate all situations and we want everyone to be a HAPPY volunteer!!!

Thank you again and I look forward to working with you on October 19 and/or 20.
