Welcome to Wasatch Pony Club's annual USEA recognized Golden Spike Horse Trails!

This year's event will take place June 8th through June 11th at Golden Spike Event Center in Ogden, Utah.

We would not be able to run these events without volunteers like you. So THANK YOU!
Head on over to Event Days at the top to sign up!

Thursday (6/8) will consist of setting up and schooling rounds, Friday (6/9) the event begins with dressage, Saturday (6/10) the event continues with cross country, and Sunday (6/11) the event finishes with show jumping and clean up. Most volunteer slots lie between 8 AM to 4 PM those days.

Dressage will take place on the racetrack, showjumping will take place in the arena inside the racetrack on the south side, and cross country will take place on the cross country course in and outside of the track (However judges will originally meet at the bleachers by the showjumping ring!). Feel free to acquaint yourselves with the map of Golden Spike with the link below.

Don't know what to sign up for? Set up, tear down, jump crew, and cross country jump judge require zero previous knowledge! In gate, dressage stewards, score runners, and timers it is nice to have some knowledge beforehand, however training on the spot isn't hard! Make sure to track hours for end of season awards too! And get the Eventing Volunteers app through your app store!

If you have any questions, concerns, or comments please reach out to Morgan Dickerman at [email protected]. I will do my best to give out free schooling vouchers to volunteers throughout the event but if I miss you please contact me!

The Golden Spike Horse Trials ran for the first time in 1987 and was named the Best New Combined Training Event in the United States. That same year, however, the cross-country course was threatened. The incredible commitment of the Wasatch Pony Club to the Golden Spike Horse Trials over the course of the last 30 years has made for a very special and unique event. Wasatch Pony Club's dedication to the preservation of equestrian open space has been key; over the years we have seen many courses come and go and are determined to keep ours!

We think we have one of the prettiest venues in the area, and we want riders to come experience it! As with all events, the key to keeping our course open is getting enough entries for our competitions. Riders can be sure of a well-organized and competitive event at Golden Spike. Our event is run by friendly, motivated volunteers in a gorgeous setting. It doesn’t get better than that!

As a non-profit, the Wasatch Pony Club uses the proceeds from the Golden Spike Horse Trials to provide opportunities for its members, maintain a rainy day fund to guarantee the event will be able to continue even in a bad year, and of course maintaining and upgrading the cross-country course.
